How these figures are taken
The snapshot is committed with the page, so every copy of the site prints the same numbers and the same date. Coverage figures are counts from our own database. Usage figures come from our own analytics after known bots and our own browsers are removed; because search events are sampled, those counts are estimates and are shown rounded down. Usage counts begin on the first day the analytics kept them, which each figure names. A figure older than 45 days is hidden rather than shown as current.
How we keep this honest
- Every figure carries the day it was taken. A number without a date does not appear on this page.
- When the snapshot is older than 45 days the page hides its figures, answers noindex and leaves the sitemap, automatically.
- The same rule runs on the cheapest dates pages, which hide after 7 days, and every flight page names the day its fare was checked.
